Marcus Smart is the heart and soul of the Boston Celtics – a bulldog with no back down ready to go toe-to-toe with the reigning MVP of the league and a dude that has 8 inches and 20 pounds on him. Side note: HE ONLY HAS 20 POUNDS ON SMART, what a bitch. It seems like any time Marus gets matched up with a Superstar he gets in their head and agitates the shit out of ’em and causes them to make mistakes. It’s inevitable. They let Marcus live rent-free in their heads. Beautiful.
Last night Marcus and Giannis got locked up and hit the floor during the 4th quarter in a game where the Celtics had come back from down 19 points to take a 10 point lead. The Bucks were starting to cut into the deficit and Smart just mentally locked up the arguably best player in the league. Giannis was CLEARLY frustrated that the Celtics had been able to contain him all night (he finished with an impressive 22pts 15reb on the night, but was held as in-check as they could).
Marcus Smart gives zero fucks about your MVP award, Giannis. He had one of the best games I’ve seen him have in a Celtics game, single-handedly making sure the game didn’t get out of hand in the 2nd quarter with his 8 points and timely three-pointers. He finished up with 19pt 4reb 6ast and one LOUD steal.
That game was pornographic if you’re a Celtics fan. They had an abysmal start to the game going down 34-19 early. From there they started to claw back and went back and forth with Milwaukee in the 2nd, but went into halftime down by 16. It did not look great for the Celtics….
And then the 3rd quarter came, and with it so did I. That was classic comeback Celtics basketball. Tatum, Hayward, and Kemba all came alive to score 11, 10, 8 points respectively. And of course, this happened….
Tatum is really starting to show that cold-blooded, superstar ability and I am here for the ride. He gets 20 points in his sleep and once he can get those inside drives to fall more consistently that number will continue to rise.
That is a bad man.
Speaking of bad men, let’s talk about Gordon Hayward and Kemba Walker. Hayward again looked like his old self, driving to the hoop and making plays for his teammates. He nearly had a triple-double with 21pt 10reb 7ast. He made a beautiful pass to a driving Jayson Tatum that nearly made me cry tears of happiness. Kemba Walker is the new King in the Fourth (sorry IT) and has BALLS. He went off in the second half for 21 points, including 13 in the 4th to seal the game. He finished with 32 points, his second consecutive game with 32, and added 6 rebounds and 6 assists and one NASTY STEP BACK ON GIANNIS.
I’m very impressed with Kemba so far this season. He had a rough start shooting the ball but has dominated the last few games. The man is a threat to go off for 30+ any given night and doesn’t shy away from pressure or the big shot. I guess that’s what happens when you spend your career in Charlotte as their main and only option. Now here in Boston, he doesn’t have all the weight on his shoulders alone; he’s got other options and can just focus on playing his best basketball. Here’s to you, Kemba Walker.
This team is amazing and they are going to be TROUBLE in the East. I’m riding such a high today. I love basketball. I love Smart, Kemba, Tatum, Hayward, Brown, and all the other men who don the green.
Most importantly, I love the 2019-20 Boston Celtics.
